Saeco Axial Flow Vegetable Seed Extractor

Saeco Axial Flow Vegetable Seed Extracting Machine is based on the design developed by the College of the Agriculture Engineering, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana. This machine uses the wet seed extraction principal. The ripe fruits of various vegetables, as such tomato, brinjal, chillies, cucumber, squash-melon, water melon, summer, squash etc. are fed into the machine through a feeding chute. The machine consists of a feeding chute, a primary cutting  chamber, crushing chamber, seed outlet and a waste outlet. The crushing chamber consists of a rotor shaft on which sharp cutting blades are mounted spirally. On the same rotor rakes to move the material along the axis have been provided. Under the rotor shaft, a concave screen has been provided in such a manner that it can be easily removed. There is a cover, which encloses the rotor completely. There is no escape for the material entering the crushing chamber the material by the fast revolving knives and falls through the concave screen.
Three water spraying pipes, running along of the rotor have been provided. These pipes have holes and are inter-connected. A small centrifugal pump has been provided to pump the water and deliver it in to the spraying pipes. The water comes out in the form of swift jets. The machine is operated by a H.P. electric motor. A feed regulating gate has been provided so that excessive material is not fed into the crushing chamber. This avoids clogging of the machine. Similarly, a pulp size-regulating gate has been provided which controls the size and flow of the pulp ejected out of the machine.
Under the concave screen there is an encloser with slopping sides. As the fast rotating blades mounted on the rotor crush the ripe fruits, the water jets wash out the seeds and finally crushed pulp and the same are ejected out from the seed outlet. A drum is placed under the seen outlet. A fine screen is placed over the drum. The pump draws the water is replaced. Alternately, one can install the machine near a tube well or a water tank kept at sufficient height and the water can be fed directly into the crushing chamber if enough pressure is available, one can connect the spraying pipes to the source of water and there is no need to run the pump for circulating the water. It is absolutely essential that sufficient water is available for smooth functioning of the machine. The ripe fruit should be fed in the machine uniformly.
